This project involved filling in existing voids from stairs on levels 17, 18, and 19 of a high-rise building in the heart of the Brisbane CBD.
The two voids were closed using structural steel and joists, which were then tiled over to repurpose the floor levels for new tenant requirements.
Key challenges included accurately capturing the existing voids and avoiding existing reinforcement. To achieve this, we utilized Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) alongside our in-house 3D LIDAR, detailing, and total station setout capabilities. This ensured there was no impact on the critical structure.
Access was critical, as all structural steel had to be lifted by hand while remaining structurally sound and transported up small public-use elevators. Our precise data capture allowed for meticulous planning and execution, ensuring the project met all structural and tenant requirements without compromising the building’s integrity.
